    Program Overview
In recent years, significant progress has been made in breast cancer therapy, a cornerstone of which has been the incorporation of estrogen receptor (ER)/progesterone receptor (PR)-directed therapy into the treatment paradigm for hormone-positive disease. The critical importance of ER and PR in the development and progression of breast cancer, and the association of reduced expression of those receptors with poor response to antiestrogen therapy and worse prognosis, are well known. Currently, a large amount of clinical data exploring new single and combined therapies to inhibit the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway is constantly emerging. In order to offer optimal patient care, clinicians must be well informed of these advances.
